Heaven's Strength of Joy

This is a rerun. But if it makes a difference, I wrote it when I was entering the most difficult time I've experienced in my life.
"Joy is the serious business of heaven."
~ C.S. Lewis

"This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength."
~ Nehemiah 8:10 (NIV)

"The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, 'See here!' or 'See there!' For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you."
~ Luke 17:20-21 (NKJV)

Whatever else we imagine Heaven to be, we know without a doubt that the business of Heaven is Joy. It is other things such as Peace and Love and the Presence of God. And all those things come down to Joy.

If we have been born again into the God's Kingdom of Heaven ...
If eternal life is not something we wait for but something we have ...
If the kingdom of God is something not searched out but found within ...

... shouldn't we be employed in Heaven's business of Joy?

The Power to manifest Joy resides within the heart where Jesus is enthroned. In yielding to His Joy we have strength.

Lord Jesus, You taught us to pray for Your Father’s kingdom to come. We long for Your kingdom on earth when You return some future hour. Please shine through us so that Your spiritual kingdom is visible in us for this present hour.

  1. I enjoyed this the second time, just as much as the first time sis. I love you.

  2. ...your "back forty" of posts contain SO MUCH to chew on! been sitting here for a spell thinking about this one. "employed in the business of joy" and "Jesus sitting on the throne within our hearts." need to keep these thoughts and learn to yield much quicker to Him! peace and love isn't just an old hippy slogan...
one has to really get a great grasp on His meaning of it.

  3. meant to say i need to yield quicker.
this is a great repost! btw. saw a guy on TV recently like the guy in the picture who was born without limbs. he ate with his elbows, wrestled in high school, and now owns his own gym. he has dream to climb Mt. Everest. no doubt in my mind it will happen. he's got willpower like the power of a diesel locomotive. didn't mean to get so lengthy here.

  4. Water for my thirsty soul.

  5. The joy of the Lord is our strength ...always.

  6. Denise ~ How could anyone forget Nick? He's my hero. (You too!)

Natasa ~ Now to live it ...

Bud ~ Re: peace and love isn't just an old hippy has to really get a great grasp on His meaning of it—it takes not only the "willpower like the power of a diesel locomotive," it takes His power. On our own we have no strength. Strength of joy comes in "Strength of God," Ezekiel.

T ~ You bless me. You really, really bless me.

Susan ~ The lesson is coming harder these days. I know it to be true. I see it in you. Thank you for being here.
