Unless the LORD guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain.
~ Psalms 127:1 (NKJV)

Walls of defense which humans erect, whether visible or invisible, are no more than illusion. Security is found in only the Lord.

Good girl. Even stronger than the walls we build against cold and crime are the walls we build in a futile attempt to protect our hearts from conflict. God is our Protecter against whatever might hurt us.

Your response makes you and I equally safe, each in our respective countries.

  6. ...that's an answer! thank you, Anne. the reason i asked the question is because my other mentor generally runs along the thought line that most physical things or acts have a spiritual meaning or significance. but it's only by the His Spirit that one can know. the Zech verse i liked.

    wall of fire....

  7. Sometimes if we don't collapse the walls the Lord will collapse them for us. That's called learning the hard way. Been there done that. It's so much more freeing to let go.

I'm inclined to believe there's far more connection between the spiritual and the physical than we'll even begin to understand this side of Heaven. While I believe in praying for healing, I also believe that we're more successful if we seek spiritual healing first and then discover what physical healing follows.

Right you are! The one set of walls the Lord can be counted on to break down are walls which prevent love. When walls of resentment, unforgiveness, anger, bitterness, fear, etc. hinder love, we should expect the Lord to be at work.

  11. When my defenses collapse, I'm so grateful He's there to catch me.

Wendy, I'd love to post a picture of you and me sometime. ;)

I increasingly realize what defenses I've thought I had, only to watch them collapse. The Lord continues to renew my faith in His security.

(And Wendy's a GEM! Maybe you'll meet at ACFW next time. :D)
