Sealed Up

"I know not what the future holds.
But I know Who holds the future."
~ Unknown

Sealed Answers

Now when the seven thunders uttered their voices, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, "Seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered, and do not write them."
~ Revelation 10:4 (NKJV)

I wonder why the Lord sealed up what the seven thunders said, but still told us that they said something.

I wonder lots of things.

Lord, how much longer before Your return? (Surely the world is too evil for God to tolerate much longer.)

Will You really rapture us before the Great Tribulation? (I want to believe that.) Or will we experience both tribulation and The Tribulation before You return as a thief and steal us away before the Wrath? (Best to be ready for either and stay tight with Jesus.)

The Lord has chosen to reveal many things, and to seal up other things. We all have questions about the future. He reminds us over and over to not be anxious about tomorrow.

Sufficient the trouble for today.

When it’s not possible to pray for all I need, what should I pray for most?

How do I experience Your rest when I live with the tension of being suspended between accepting Your will and engaging my will with You—being willing to have hope but not expectation? How do I keep caring enough without caring too much?

These are questions I still hope to have answered. Do you have questions with no answer? Do you have questions you keep asking in hope for one?

LORD, my heart is not haughty,
Nor my eyes lofty.
Neither do I concern myself with great matters,
Nor with things too profound for me.
Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul,
Like a weaned child with his mother;
Like a weaned child is my soul within me.
~ Psalms 131:1-2 (NKJV)

  3. I'm reading Isaiah right now and I came to the conclusion there is so much there regarding the future. Generations have come and gone and yet that information is still there waiting, for who? For that one generation it might coincide with? Most likely as a kind window into the future that He can assure of, and He was kind enough to offer us a glimpse into. He unfolds his plan to the masses in the text of his work, and offers it to us personally if we push into him by way of our heart. Amazing.

It occurs to me that the quote could also be applied for the present, to bolster faith for trials of the moment. And it's good to hear that hope is spoken here. : )

Hope vs. expectation, faith vs. presumption ... human understanding must remain imperfect so we keep seeking Him.

I like the idea of OT prophets seeing clear into our future, and the confidence of knowing that God doesn't seem to be in a hurry, so neither should we.

As much as I wish God provided more answers, I know He wants us to walk in the faith of not knowing everything. Oh for the day when faith is sight!

You would ususally say look at God, and look into the Bible. But I like the idea of looking into God. It would require us to go deeper, I think. Nice thought, either way. :D

  13. I don't know why this struck me but I loved, "Best to ...stay tight with Jesus."

  14. Anne, you know, I think, what I think of questions. It really sends me sometimes to think there is something that, no matter how hard I look, how deep I study, I simply cannot know.

But at the same time, I find enormous comfort in knowing that He holds some things away, we cannot have it all. It keeps me trusting in His goodness, if nothing else.

(And I'm with you -- draw my conclusions about how He plans to do things, but be ready for anything and stay tight.)

    Bless you this weekend.

I sometimes picture myself holding His hand loosely, leaning away from Him in a manner of distraction which may cause me to stumble—but not fall. I know I need to stick to His side more closely.

Doing "Question of the Week" is always interesting when I'm forced to seek out the answers I don't know. Not that I can ever give complete answers, but I try to at least provide a solid perspective of relevant biblical truths.

I wonder if we'll still have questions in Heaven, or if simply knowing God face to face will be enough then.
