"Come to Me,
all you who labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me,
for I am gentle and lowly in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
~ Matthew 11:28-30 (NKJV)

What is before you that seems like just too much, whether a task or a circumstance or a person?
Bring it to Jesus—not in only a moment's prayer of, "Help, Lord!" and not just today. Spend enough time with Jesus that you become yoked to Him in this matter, and feel Him shouldering the burden you carry.
"... and you will find rest for your souls ..."
This is His promise.

This is one promise I take Him up on regularly. Actually I call on most of His good promises whenever possible. He is an awesome God.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Jesus.
ReplyDeleteI needed this today... holding on to His promise... holding on to Him, the one I am yoked to...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anne... thank you, Jesus...
All's grace,
Ann
thanks for the encouragement to keep on-keep on knocking. it's definitely a promise. woke up this morning thinking about doors. as free as we think we might be, sometimes we really aren't free. there's something i've given or tried to give Him over and over again. one of these days He will remove it completely. a promise....as long as i use the key and trust Him. there's a LOT to chew on/digest in the scripture above.

ReplyDeleteYes, we are free, and yet our freedom is in layers, like that onion. Each layer of freedom feels WONDERFUL, and so we keep peeling them back, with the Lord.
sometimes it does seem like too much, doesn't it ... even the turning it over
ReplyDeleteAnne, your response to my comment was so profound. Thank you for always stretching me spiritually.

ReplyDeleteYes, we sometimes struggle the first laying down, and sometimes in the keep laying it down.
Thanks, T! I appreciate the dialogue, and I appreciate the feedback.
ReplyDeleteI am so grateful for the precious promises of God.

ReplyDelete"Grateful" seems like such a small word for promises so great, but He receives it with joy.
