We Are His Witnesses

"And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him."
~ Acts 5:32 (NKJV)

"By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
~ Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV)

Christians increasingly speak of Jesus' return, anxious for Him to right the world. The fact is, He's supposed to be here already. We are His body—His eyes to see, ears to listen, mouth to speak, hands to touch, heart to love, Spirit to empower. His presence is to be evident now.

Do you or I struggle with anger? With pride? Lust, bitterness, scorn? Or even plain annoyance? For those in whom Jesus' Spirit lives, the question is not so much what would Jesus do, but what is He doing? Is He given freedom to love through us, or does our flesh get in His way?

Whatever wrong thoughts and feelings we struggle with toward someone else, victory may be found in a simple prayer: "Lord, let me see this person through Your eyes, and let Your Spirit lead my response to him (her)."

For better or for worse, we are His witnesses.

Lord, thank You for putting Your Spirit within people cleansed by the blood of Jesus. Please help us yield to Your Spirit, and allow Him to guide our every thought, feeling, word and action. Please bring Your church to function as a whole and healthy body, built up in Your love.
