Faithful Servant

"True humility is not an abject, groveling, self-despising spirit.
It is but a right estimate of ourselves as God sees us."
~ Tryon Edwards

Faithful Servant

'We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.'
~ Luke 17:10 (NKJV)

'Well done, good and faithful servant ... Enter into the joy of your lord.'
~ Matthew 25:23 (NKJV)

Here in a world tarnished by selfishness and suffering, it can be difficult to see good around us.

Here in our hearts scarred by failure, it can be difficult to see ourselves as profitable servants.

God loves us no less now than when we stand before Him fully perfected. He already sees His good and faithful servants as we will be in heaven.

Heavenly Father, thank You for already loving us with Your full capacity. Help us know and share Your love.

  1. I long for a magnification of Him through me for His glory. This unprofitable servant desires more duty. Bold statement? Probably. Heartfelt though.

  2. I desire to be so much more for Him.

  3. How fortunate that God does not expect us to be perfect. Likewise, we should not expect others to be perfect. When someone is particularly annoying to me, I look to find God within that person, and I always do for God is in everyone, whether we admit it or not, and whether we are good, bad, or rotten. If God were not with all of us, there would be little hope for this world, but since He is, there is great hope.

  4. If only I had more to offer him. I'm humbled daily by those more skilled, more willing, more worthy.

But like all Christians I'm on a path, and my daily prayer is to die a little more to self and live a little more for Him. When I really feel broken, lost and unworthy, it helps to realize that even Paul felt the same. I figure if Paul sometimes felt gripped by his own inadequacies, perhaps it's not too bad if I am, too.

God bless you all richly today. The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few--God bless your efforts to share Christ's love in these perilous times.

  5. T. Anne, I LOVE your boldness and so does He. He'll always answer those prayers which bring Him glory and bless us in the process.

Denise, I see you becoming more for Him every day.

Gwen, just as we accept our children wherever they are at the same time we want them to keep trying harder, that's all He asks of us. In Him, we are never inadequate! (Yippee Praise the Lord!)

Elizabeth, Yes! God is our ONLY hope! I like what you're saying about looking for God in an especially annoying person.

Also, a favorite quote of mine is this: "Don't be angry that you cannot make others as you wish them to be, since you cannot make yourself as you wish to be." ~ Thomas A. Kempis

  6. Yes, Lord, help us to be more like You.

    Beautiful post, Anne.

    Blessings to you today!

  7. Debra, thank you for the blessing of your words.
