Resurrection Dance

"That day will be remembered as the greatest day in history. The fate of the world changed in one glorious moment when life triumphed on Resurrection Sunday."
~ From Budapest Resurrection Sunday Dance

Since this is the third video I've offered this week, I promise not to post any more anytime soon. But I could not resist sharing an incredible Resurrection celebration, and also asking a question:

No matter your age or physical condition, regardless of your denomination or race or gender, if the resurrection of Jesus Christ has not affected you this way yet, what obstacle hinders you?

[And if you, like me, just can't get enough of this kind of Resurrection Celebration, here's the remix version.]

Here's the words.

Resurrection Sunday Dance

The hope of the people searching for life, the day will be brighter
The message of freedom rings in the sky, spreading the fire
The flag of a nation ready to fly, taking them higher
The heart of a land that's ready to fight, full of desire

When nothing is as you want it to be, look up to heaven
Freedom was paid for on Calvary, the chain is broken
Making the way right to destiny, borders are open
And Jesus has granted the victory, that Sunday morning

Joy in this lifetime utterly free
More than the world gives beyond what you see
For nations it's time to rise their hope is in Jesus Christ.
If the giants come just hold on
The advantage is now on your side
Jesus will take the final fight!

The Light dawned that Sunday morning
It broke through the boundaries of time
Hearts start shining calling to all mankind
Let's celebrate eternal life!

(RAP)
When something in you says you're not through
Something whispers you need to go too
You say that things just can't stay this way
Your heart is calling Mayday Mayday!
World is just trouble get out of your muddle
Jump now's the time take your chance on the double.
Leave it behind you'll see you won't mind
Once you meet Jesus the answer you'll find
Don't Google your noodle or consult your poodle
Just follow your heart and it will be super
Wake up see the Light find new life in His life,
With Him in sight He'll take you to new heights
The rescues begun now Someone's come
Be looking to the sky but not for Air Force One
The way out is up up up and away
With Jesus today is Independence Day.

(Song)
Shining, calling to all mankind,
Let's celebrate eternal life!

The Light dawned that Sunday morning
It broke through the boundaries of time
Hearts start shining calling to all mankind
Let's celebrate eternal life

Because He Lives

"It's amazing to think: God can use us dead or alive
—because He lives."
~ Katy Pent (@DiscoveryHouse)

Because He Lives

If Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! ... If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.
~ 1 Corinthians 15:17,19 (NKJV)

Because Jesus came to this world as God in the flesh, I know my Creator and His love.

Because Christ died and was raised from the dead, I have been set free from the powers of death and the devil through faith in my living Lord.

Because He lives, and He dwells in me through His Holy Spirit, the power of His eternal life is at work in me now and will endure beyond the time of my fleeting years on the earth.

All praise to God our Father, to our Lord and God Jesus Christ, and to their divine Holy Spirit!

Hallelu YAH!

Father, thank You. Lord Jesus, thank You. Holy Spirit, thank You. Let us never hesitate to embrace the life you offer in all You ask of us.

In Him We Live

"He is not the God of the dead but of the living, for all live to Him."
~ Luke 20:38 (NKJV)

"In Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His offspring.' "
~ Acts 17:28 (NKJV)

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
~ Galatians 2:20 (NKJV)

I wonder some days if I should take death more seriously, if only for the sake of others.

My problem (if it's a problem) is I take to heart the words that I no longer live. Self tries to rise up a thousand times a day, but Self no longer lives. In autumn 1988 I came alive to Christ. He now lives in me. I see death as the natural means by which we fully enter the kingdom into which we've been born again.

I've given birth five times, three times at home. (Once was by accident, and it was no big deal after that.) Something about giving birth in the comfortable environment of home with a nice fire going makes it seem completely natural for a baby to transition into arms from womb's confinement. Death is likewise the natural point at which we're no longer confined by earth and reach the arms of God.

Everyone who is in Christ is already living eternal life. In Him we died. In Him we live. Death can no longer touch us.

Lord Jesus, You are the resurrection and the life. You increasingly fill us with Your life and we love You for it. Please fill us with Your Spirit ever more fully while we walk the earth, so that we will do what You did when You were here. Please let all of us see death with the perspective You desire us to have.

Behold Your Enemies

A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath Day.
It is good to give thanks to the LORD,
And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High....
I will triumph in the works of Your hands....
You, LORD, are on high forevermore.
For behold, Your enemies, O LORD,
For behold, Your enemies shall perish....
My eye also has seen my desire on my enemies.
~ Psalms 92:1-11 (NKJV)

If Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.... And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! ... If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. But now Christ is risen from the dead ... in Christ all shall be made alive.... He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.
~ 1 Corinthians 15:14-26 (NKJV)

"O Death, where is your sting?
O Hades, where is your victory?" ...
Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

~ 1 Corinthians 15:55-56 (NKJV)

Because of the resurrection, everything Christ said and did—especially His death—is vindicated. We have confidence in His every Word.

Because of the resurrection, Christ lives. We serve a living God.

Because of the resurrection, we are victorious over Death, the greatest enemy. We shall not fear lesser enemies. We shall fear only He who is greater, Death's Conqueror.

Behold your enemies: Death, Sin, Flesh, World, Satan. All are defeated in the new life that is ours in the resurrection. Today, and every day, is our celebration of victory.

The Lord is on high forevermore!

Lord Jesus Christ, You are God and Ruler of all! You are Death's Conqueror! You are our King! We behold Your enemies who are our enemies, and we behold them defeated. Please move us to yield to Your Spirit and live in that victory. Please conform us to the life of Your Word.

Going up to Jerusalem

"Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem ... and they will mock [the Son of Man], and scourge Him, and spit on Him, and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again." Then James and John ... said to Him, "Grant us that we may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on Your left, in Your glory." But Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" (Mark 10:33-38 NKJV)

"Therefore you shall be careful to do as the LORD your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left." (Deuteronomy 5:32 NKJV)

Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem.
(Luke 9:51 NKJV)

I shudder to think of the times I've been as insensitive as Jesus' disciples. He describes His horrific death, and they respond by jockeying for position. Might that request for position on the right and left of Jesus have gone through John's mind when he stood at the foot of three crosses?

God plans for us a journey going up to Jerusalem. Like drunkards unable to walk a straight line, we inevitably veer off the path He designates, and seek an easier route slightly to the right or left. The only way to stay on course is to resolutely set our faces to follow in Jesus' footsteps.

The empty cross not only symbolizes Christ's resurrection, but also the vacant cross each of us faces, waiting for us to take our place upon it—every day. The surest path to fullness of resurrection life is via the cross, laying down the will of Self.

Lord Jesus, how did You say "yes" to every step going up to Jerusalem when You knew what awaited? You are our God. Please give each of us the endurance to stay the course—to say "yes" as You lead step by step, to learn to walk in Your ways, and to follow You all of our days.

"When Christ calls a man, He bids him come and die." ~ Dietrich Boenhoeffer

You May Have Life

And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. (John 20:30-31 NKJV)

Jesus said to [Mary], "Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father." (John 20:16-17 NKJV)

"For I know that my Redeemer lives,
And He shall stand at last on the earth;
And after my skin is destroyed, this I know,
That in my flesh I shall see God,
Whom I shall see for myself,
And my eyes shall behold, and not another.
How my heart yearns within me!"

(Job 19:25-27 NKJV)

This is life in heaven: to own peace that cannot be disturbed, in the absence of anxiety; to eternally fulfill one's purpose of glorifying God and have consummate joy in it; to love without condition and know love unconditionally; to live forever in the sight of my Maker.

This is resurrection life on earth: to own peace that cannot be disturbed—in the face of anxiety; to fulfill one's eternal purpose of glorifying God and have consummate joy in it; to love without condition and know unconditional love; to live forever in the presence of my Maker.

You may have life without clinging to the day when Jesus is seen in the flesh. You may have life in His name—the resurrection life of a new creation—by believing in all Jesus is and looking to Him in all things.

Lord Jesus, thank You for the great love which laid down Your life to give it to us. Please draw us to abide in Your presence, and to have Your Word abide in us. Please teach us to allow anxieties of this world fade when we look to You. Please give us patience for the day when we see You in the flesh in the absence of all anxiety.

The Enemy Death

If Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! … The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. … The sting of death is sin … but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:26,56-57 NKJV)

“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.” (John 11:25-26 NKJV)

If Christ is not risen … if in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are all men the most pitiable. But now Christ is risen from the dead.
(1 Corinthians 15:14,19-20 NKJV)

Perhaps the only reliable statistic is that 10 out of 10 people die. Everyone faces the enemy Death, because everyone sins, and the wages—the payment—for sin is Death.

The God whose name is “I AM” is the only power to trump Death. Those who believe in Jesus live in Him and evade death's sting of sin. The choice to live each day, each moment in Christ is a choice to have true life now, and keep it for eternity. For us, the enemy Death is already defeated.

Lord YHWH, the great I AM, in You is all life. You are greater than all our enemies. The life You give fulfills our deepest needs. Please help us to choose Your life in all we do.

"Whoever be our people here, God's people or the devil's, death will gather our souls to them." — C.H. Spurgeon

Praise AND Worship

And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, "Rejoice!" So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. (Matthew 28:9 NKJV)

"But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." (John 4:23-24 NKJV)

Jesus gave an imperative to rejoice which is recorded with the Greek salutation chairete (a verb related to the noun charis, "grace, favor, joy"). Could there be a greater cause to rejoice than receiving a loved one back from the grave? Yet the joyful reunion was met first with face-on-the-ground worship, not the hands-uplifted-dancing praise which surely followed.

The Father seeks true worshipers. After I enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise, let me not fail to worship.

Lord Jesus, "I can only imagine, when that day comes ... will I dance for You ... Or to my knees [and face] will I fall?" I long to do all of it. Come quickly, Lord Jesus!

Death’s Sting

Resurrection Sunday, 2008

And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! ... If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable... So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." "O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?" ... Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:17,19,54-55,57 NKJV)

What does anyone fear more than death? Jesus Himself, Almighty God made flesh, pleaded with His Father to take away the cup of death, that He might not taste its bitterness. Then in the supreme example of obedience, He said "not My will, but Yours be done." The Lord Jesus Christ drank the bitter cup of death that I might be spared its poison. The only death I will ever taste is the daily death of self, freely laying down my will as my beloved Master did. It is in this death that I know His life. It is in His life that I am set free from both fear of death and all lesser fears. It is in freedom from fear that my faith knows victory each day!

All thanks be to You, Abba God!
