Joy and Rejoicing of My Heart

Your words were found, and I ate them,
And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart;
For I am called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts.
~ Jeremiah 15:16 (NKJV)

How sweet are Your words to my taste,
Sweeter than honey to my mouth! …
Uphold me according to Your word, that I may live …
I rejoice at Your word
As one who finds great treasure.
~ Psalm 119:103,116, 162 (NKJV)

This weekend concludes a two-week visit with family in Colorado. We timed our visit to attend a wedding filled with “joy and rejoicing of heart.” Any time with my family is a joy and rejoicing of my heart. And because so many of them are Christ’s, we share a love that shall transcend eternity.

Several people have expressed surprise that I’ve continued to post to my blog while away from home. I’ll confess it’s been tough to find the time. Most posts don’t take that much time to write. Far more demanding is time set aside for reading and digesting God’s Word amid so many extra distractions.

My commitment to these daily posts makes me accountable to staying in the Word. (There is a record before all of you if I fail to do so.) But more importantly, if God’s Word is not the first source of joy and rejoicing of my heart, it will not be found elsewhere.

Bread of Life, You sustain as nothing else does. Living Word, You fill us with love and laughter and LIFE! Whatever else we rejoice over—wherever else joy is found—let it ever and always be first in You.

Your feedback is appreciated. (Some days it keeps me going.)

  1. Amen. God's word has sustained me to life. I often wonder how my love ones who don't know the Lord (by refusal) survive at all.
