But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, "Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man’s wife. ... Now therefore, restore the man’s wife. ... But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours." (Genesis 20:3,7 NKJV)
So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. (Romans 12:5 NKJV)
Once unleashed, sin consumes as many as it can touch, near or remote, visibly and in the soul. It is deaf to any cry of "unfair" that one suffers for the sin of another.
I might reason that some of my sins affect only me, and that the soul’s secrets are safely out of sight. Yet the mouth speaks from the abundance of the heart, nothing is hidden which cannot be revealed, and no one exists as an island. Our lives are knit together with all those around us.
Father, thank You for Your presence, so we are never alone. Thank You for designing us to be dependent upon You and one another. Please keep each of us mindful of our unique place in the picture You see.
