To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless. And we labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure; being defamed, we entreat. ... For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power. (1 Corinthians 4:11-13,20 NKJV)
For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified ... the power of God and the wisdom of God.
(1 Corinthians 1:22-24 NKJV)
I am the LORD All-Powerful. So don't depend on your own power or strength, but on my Spirit. (Zechariah 4:6 CEV)
Life is an endurance event. We wish it to be a pleasant stroll through a beautiful garden. It is a triathlon through harsh terrain, in which we must overcome the devil, the world, and Self. By ourselves we have no hope to prevail.
But we do not run alone. We have the power of God to endure, available through His Word, His Spirit, His body of believers. The ability to overcome against the odds is the sign of the power and wisdom of God in our lives. We falter without it.
Father in Heaven, You are infinite in wisdom, power and love. We are but weak and foolish children with short attention spans. We need You. Please keep us close to our sources of strength.
