Each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. (1 Corinthians 3:13-14 NKJV)
The Lord said, "Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord will set over his household? ... To whoever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked." (Luke 12:42,48 HNV)
It’s been said that we brought nothing into this world, and we’ll take nothing out. Not so. There’s at least two things in this world that can follow us to the next: people and works. Works will never get us into heaven, nor can we use them to barter with God. But the talents He put in us and everything else entrusted to us is either invested in His kingdom or used for this world.
It would be unwise to overlook the many passages in Scripture describing eternal reward for spiritual investment.
Lord Jesus, our Master, You have been generous in bestowing talents to us and providing to us. Please prompt us to be good stewards, and wise investors who see eternity as a bull market.
