What is Truth?

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. ... Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." (John 8:31-32,36 NKJV)

"Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are. ... Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth." (John 17:11,17 NKJV)

Jesus answered, "... Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice." Pilate said to Him, "What is truth?" ... Pilate then went out again, and said to them, "... I find no fault in Him. ... Behold the Man!"
(John 18:37-38;19:4-5 NKJV)

The politically correct reject absolute truth as offensive. They insist certain "truths" are for others, but room must be allowed for their own "truth."

What is truth if it is not absolute? The freedom to determine how to apply truth lies with each individual and with the Holy Spirit. But if truth itself is not firm and reliable, it is not truth.

The increasingly common practice of picking and choosing which parts of the Bible may be accepted establishes as authoritative not the Word of God, but the reasoning of man. Unless one relies upon the entire Word, one cannot truly rely upon any of it.

Lord Jesus Christ, You are indeed the Way, the Truth, the Life. We are privileged and humbled to know You as the only Way to the Father, as absolute Truth, as Life itself. Increase our faith! Draw us to Yourself. Enable us to abide in You, in Truth.
