Worship Him

Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. (John 12:3 NKJV)

For if a woman is not covered, let her also be shorn. But if it is shameful for a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered. ...
If a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her ...
(1 Corinthians 11:6,15 NKJV)

The twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
"You are worthy, O Lord,
To receive glory and honor and power;
For You created all things,
And by Your will they exist and were created."
(Revelation 4:10-11 NKJV)

Mary's act of worship is usually admired for the great expense of the spikenard. In her culture, the greater sacrifice was to expose the glory of her hair to the public view of men and use it as a lowest servant for a foot towel.

The vision John has of heaven includes the highest saints of God likewise humbling themselves, by taking the glory of a golden crown bestowed upon them, and laying it down before the only One worthy of such honor and glory.

If I fail to make the time to worship Him each day, what merited higher priority? Busyness, business, pleasure? Sleep, hobbies, distractions? Is there any sacrifice of glory too high for my Lord and King? Lost worship is never replaced.

But each day is a new opportunity.

Most High King, forgive me for denying You worship for lesser endeavors. Strengthen me to not forsake You, nor to deny You the best I have to offer. You are worthy of all I have, all I do, all I am.
