Spiritual 911

O LORD my God, in You I put my trust; Save me from all those who persecute me; And deliver me, Lest they tear me like a lion, Rending me in pieces, while there is none to deliver. . . Arise, O LORD, in Your anger; Lift Yourself up because of the rage of my enemies; Rise up for me to the judgment You have commanded! (Psalm 7:1-2,6 NKJV)

We defend against attack with home security and 911. The most dangerous enemies are unseen. Peter warned of the devil who prowls about as a roaring lion, and Paul gave detailed instructions of how to stand against him. David sets the example of never thinking oneself safe from relentless pursuit, and the need to depend on God for defense. I face grave consequences if I see myself as safe from attack or strong enough to stand alone.

Lord, in You I am safe from enemies who seek to devour my life. In You alone is my defense: truth, righteousness, daily preparation, faith, a mind submitted to Christ, the sword of Your Word, and unceasing prayer.
