"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit; wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad." ~ Brian O'Driscoll
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
~ Proverbs 9:10 (NKJV)
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Promotion of the Bible as revelation of God is my favorite cause for enthusiasm. But if I fail to convey that purpose—revelation of God—I've failed.
It is not knowledge of the Scriptures which makes one rich. It is knowing God—and therefore receiving understanding of the Scriptures and how to actually apply them—which makes one rich.

God loves me, and I love Him. I will never be poor, I have all I will ever need.
ReplyDeleteAgree. My husband points out once in a while that demons most likely know scripture as well. We must know and deep love, crave and respect our Lord. Have a happy Saturday!
ReplyDeleteAmen. It isn't knowledge of the scriptures, BUT KNOWING GOD. That is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDenise, THAT is understanding!
ReplyDeleteT. Anne, of course demons know Scripture! Satan used Scripture when he tempted Jesus. I wonder how often they still use that ploy with Christains. But understanding? That surely comes only by God's Spirit.
Beth, knowing God IS beautiful. And I'm delighted to see your beautiful face today, and to think you'll be among the people with whom I spend eternity.
I aggree, demons most definitely know the words written in the Bible but the words are not written on their hearts making it impossible for them to apply the knowledge/guidance provided. They will never know the loving peace, grace or love that God gives and their hope is to use the scriptures against God and lead us away from His presence.
