"Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’ ? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate." (Matthew 19:4-6 NKJV)
In physical reality God reveals spiritual reality. Passover was commanded both as a memorial of deliverance from Egypt and prophecy of Calvary. The union of man and wife is likewise a prophecy. Christ’s marriage is a Man leaving His Father and putting on flesh so that He may be one with His bride the church. In the rebirth of each member of the bride, we put on spiritual, eternal life so that the church may become one with her Bridegroom.
The day is at hand for the union’s full consummation.
Lord Jesus, my King and our Bridegroom, please incline the heart of each of us who is part of Your bride to be filled with thoughts of You, make ready for You, love You.
