"And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: 'Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, And seeing you will see and not perceive; For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed ...' " (Matthew 13:14-15 NKJV)
"But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty." (Matthew 13:23 NKJV)
Our jealous God does not allow His bride to share her affections with another master, but instead commands, "Love YHWH your God with all your heart, soul, mind, strength." The distracted heart that loves any less than this grows dull, and will fail to hear and see the voice and face of the Beloved. The heart that is broken for sin, watered by the Holy Spirit, and softened by love will receive the seed of the Word and bear the fruit of the Spirit—some hundredfold.
Adonai, knowledge of Your goodness compels my love. Please protect my sheep-like heart that is so easily distracted, so readily wanders. Let me see, hear, and understand You. Produce Your fruit in me.
