I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved... You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (Psalm 16:8,11 NKJV)
This life is like the covenant cup Christ gave on His last night—a sweet cup of rejoicing mingled with bitterness. The full glory of Christ revealed on the mountaintop was followed by sorrowful words of his torture and death. Fullness of joy in this life in the Lord’s presence is not out of reach. Whether He leads me to a high mountain surrounded by light or through a dark valley, I must keep the Lord always before me, at my right hand.
My Father, there is no greater joy than to know You and Your Son and the presence of Your Spirit. Help me keep You before the eyes of my heart so that I will not be moved when I am inclined to act more like me than like You.
