God’s Currency

"Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance. (Isaiah 55:1-2 NKJV)

God’s currency is called Time. He gives exactly the same amount to every man each day — though not the same number of days. While I don’t know the number of my days, I know the number of my hours. Each day’s currency can be spent on what will bring no lasting satisfaction with the passing of days. Or, it may be spent on the abundance graciously offered, in which my soul will delight today and be satisfied with forever.

Oh my Lord, make me wise on how I spend my limited hours. Draw me ever more closely into relationships with You and with others in my life. Please enable me to delight in the abundance You’ve made available.
