Kingdom Laborer

I [Paul] planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building. (1 Corinthians 3:6-9 NKJV)

Farming and construction are both hard labor without prominence that makes for dirty hands. Browsing seed catalogs and drawing blueprints are fun. Eating homegrown tomatoes off the vine and moving into new rooms are worthy pleasures. The in between part is least fun and requires the most attention. If I want to enjoy the reward I must labor faithfully in whatever place I’m assigned. Hot sun, calloused hands, and a sore back may tempt me to give less than my all. But if I work closely with my Master, He will direct me, spur me on, or give me rest as I need each one.

Lord of the Harvest, disciple me to be Your fruitful laborer.
