... for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them ... (Romans 2:14-15 NKJV)
It is both frightening and reassuring to know that God judges us by motive rather than accomplishment. When I think of my many failings, I am so grateful that God is looking at the inside rather than the outside. When I see all in my heart that is still not right, I am amazed that God loves me as He does. When I feel His love and understand the mercy He shows me, I am humbled and overwhelmed by how very much I find I love Him.
